Serology

The Serology Laboratory identifies disease-causing microbes (pathogens) through a variety of diagnostic laboratory techniques.

The Laboratory detects serum (the clear liquid that separates from the blood when it is allowed to clot) and other body fluids to determine antibodies or antibody-like substances that appear specifically in association with certain diseases.

Serological testing is particularly helpful in the diagnosis of certain bacterial, parasitic, and viral diseases for example yellow fever, measles, polio, etc
